Prasannan
Anickad who draws under the nom-de-plume of ‘PRASANNAN’
was born on 29th December, 1962, at Anickad, Kottayam as the son of
P.K.Narayananan Nair and Bhavani Amma. He is married to K.Vrinda.
He has three children, Balamurali, Achu and Deva Devan.
He
started his cartooning career in 1976
while studying for the pre degree.
His first cartoon published in Manorama weekly was as the
cartoon of the week. The remuneration he got and the recognition
thereto inspired him to take up the cartooning art quite seriously.
After
the completion of degree course he joined The Kottayam
District Co-Op.Bank in 1985. He retried from Kottayam District Co Operative bank 2019 as DGM. But on the sidelines he continued to draw cartoons mostly on social and political issues. He now runs quite a few cartoon columns . The prominent ones among them are ‘Aakruthy
Vikruthy’ ( Narmabhumi ), Onamkeramoola ( Rashtra Deepika ),Cartoon
krishi ( Karshakan ),Vakkeel Aunty ( Sthree Dhanam ),

He
was also the recipient of K.S.Pillai cartoon award for the best freelance
cartoonist in 2006 and Cartoon Award by Kottayam Press
Club . He also got the Hindusthan Times Special Mention and Media Award for best political cartoon instituted by The Humanist National Award Committee.He was Secretary of the Bank Employees Arts & Cultural Organization (BEACON) and later its President .

He was the former Chairman of Keral Cartoon Academy.
