Abdul Gafoor K A
Born on July 2, 1940, as the son of K.M. Abdul Rahman and Asya Umma. He completed his school education in Udma and Bekal, and his pre-university studies at Government College, Kasaragod. Later, he obtained the Kerala Government Technical Certificate (K.G.T.) in Fine Arts.
He worked in Bombay for a short period before joining Vengara Government High School (in present-day Malappuram district) as an art teacher in 1961, where he served for two years. He then worked for five years as an art teacher at Beypore High School, Kozhikode. During this period, he became a neighbor of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. It was during his years in Kozhikode that he became active in the field of cartooning.
In 1968, he was transferred back to his native place. He retired in 1995 from Udma Government High School. He is a distinguished member of the Kerala Cartoon Academy.
