Abdul Saleem
N S Abdul Saleem is a painter-cum-cartoonist . He draws and paints under the nom-de-plume of ‘ABDUL SALEM’ itself. He was born as the son of N. A. Sainudheen and Khadheeja Sainudheen on 16th May 1969 in Kochi. His wife is Fousia Saleem. He has two children named Salman Faris and Jasmin Saleem.
He has a Diploma in Fine Arts and runs a cartoon column called 'Poochappolice' in Malarvadi children's magazine. He works presently as an art teacher in M.M.O.V.H.S.S , Panayappilly, Kochi.
He has won many awards in paininting and cartooning . He bagged the State Award for Cartoon by Kerala Lalithakala Akademi in 2010 . Then again in 2010 itself he was awarded the Gold medal for watercolor painting by Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. In the year 2006 he got the National Award for Watercolor Painting ( southern zone) which was organised by the Camel Art Foundation India. Earlier to that in 2005, he won the State Award for Caricature making , instituted by the Kerala Cartoon Academy.
He lives now at 'Neelangath', Indira junction, Padamughal, Kakkanad, Kochi – 682030, which is also his permanent address.
